What is GingNuke?

GingNuke

GingNuke's Features
GingNuke is a highly advanced CMS (Content Management System). It has been written to be search engine friendly, Using mod_rewrite'n URLs instead of the standard query line to carry GET variables. It includes many security features such as variable checking and error logging, it also will work with PHP Safe Mode on and Open_Dir Restrictions in effect as well as with Register_Globals set to 'off' (making it much more secure and versatile). It can also be used with Apache version 2.x as well as 1.3.x.

One of GingNuke's greatest features is it's ability to host many sites from a single installation (only one database required). This means that it's easy to manage and host many GingNuke sites (GingNuke need only be installed once), it also means that webspace usage in minimised (as the GingNuke source code files aren't uploaded to multiple locations). Hosted sites can be easily managed from the administration suite of the master site. These hosted sites can also have different access levels ie. the higher the access level the more modules the site can use (each module is also assigned it's own access level).

GingNuke's History and Future
GingNuke started out as PHP-Nuke version 4 with a few alterations to the PHP Source Code at this time it was not even called GingNuke. When PHP-Nuke version 5 came out these changes were added into the PHP-Nuke version 5 source code, ie. GingNuke was updated alongside PHP-Nuke. Further alterations were made and GingNuke started to become a fairly decent hack of PHP-Nuke, this is really the point at which GingNuke split off from PHP-Nuke and began it's journey to become a great CMS in it's own right. A while after PHP-Nuke 6 came out GingNuke was once again upgraded with some of the changes made to PHP-Nuke, however by this time a lot of the changes were no longer relevant to GingNuke, and the upgrade took some time. Some of the new features in PHP-Nuke version 7 may yet be added to GingNuke. Because of GingNuke's humble roots as a PHP-Nuke hack we pay homage to Francisco Burzi and all the work he has done on PHP-Nuke.

GingNuke is now being rewritten, but should still support most PHP-Nuke Themes, and Modules should be easy to port over to GingNuke. More information will be available when this is finished. In the mean time you can help us by telling us what features you think should be in GingNuke.
